Our mission is to offer residents of the Greater Binghamton, NY area a chance to perform and enjoy high quality choral works. We welcome all members of the community to either sing with us, without audition, or to enjoy our concerts at little to no cost.
Established in 1983 by our late Artistic Director Alan C. Crabb, and now under the direction of Artistic Director Marisa Crabb, we continuously strive to build a close-knit group of non-professional community singers that supports our motto: A Tradition of Excellence in Choral Singing.
The Binghamton Downtown Singers have a truly special concert planned for the spring. Do you know someone who passed away from Covid-19? Or do you know a doctor, nurse, or other medical professional who worked under hazardous conditions for long hours, in order to treat those who were sick? If so, we invite you to come sing with us to honor those people in your life.
On Saturday, June 10th 2023 we will perform two pieces: the Brahms Requiem, to honor those who passed away from Covid-19, and the Requiem for the Living by Dan Forrest (a local Elmira composer) to honor those in the medical profession and all caregivers who worked so tirelessly during the pandemic.
Here are links to preview a movement from each piece. We hope these inspire you to join us in song. Rehearsals began on January 15 2023, but new singers are still welcome to join us Sunday nights at 7pm at Sarah Jane Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City. No audition is required.
