Description: Spring Concert: Love, Harmony and Spirit
The Downtown Singers are proud to announce their spring concert "Love, Harmony and Spirit" scheduled for Saturday June 8th. The concert will feature the following pieces:

"Chariot Jubilee" by R. Nathaniel Dett with Tshombe Selby, tenor soloist
Robert Nathaniel Dett composed The Chariot Jubilee in 1919 after a commission came from Howard Lyman and the Syracuse University Chorus. The Chariot Jubilee is thought to be the first ever symphonic work based solely on a spiritual.

"Five Mystical Songs" by Ralph Vaughan Williams with Timothy LeFebvre, baritone soloist
Vaughan Williams was inspired throughout his life by Anglican liturgy and music, the soaring architecture of its cathedrals, the English of the King James Bible and mysticism of the metaphysical poets.

"Sing for the Cure: a Proclamation of Hope"
Sing for the Cure is a choral collection based on true stories of breast cancer survivors. Each of the 11 songs is by a different composer that has been combined together to tell a story of bravery and love.
